Sam Gupta, M.D.

Sameer Gupta, MD, MPHSameer Gupta, M.D. M.P.H. - Medical Director completed his medical training at the Mayo Clinic and is board certified in Phlebolgy and Family Practice. To achieve board certification, a physician must complete the required training, meet continuing education courses and pass an intensive certification exam. Additionally, Dr. Gupta received a Masters in Public Health from Harvard University. He has devoted his practice to the diagnosis and management of the entire spectrum of vein disorders. Named America's Top Doctor in 2007-2009, Dr. Gupta sets the standards for treating vein diseases.
Dr. Sam enjoys sharing time with his wife and daughters as well as music and fitness exercise.
Peg Guthrie, M.D.

Margaret Guthrie, MDMargaret Guthrie, M.D. is board certified in Internal Medicine. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School. Additionally, her specialty is pain management, particularly for patients suffering from chronic pain from untreated venous insufficiency. Joining the VCPA team enables her to focus solely on the diagnosis and treatment of vein disorders.
She spends time biking, camping and traveling with her three children.
Dan Morehouse, M.D., RVT

Dan Morehouse, MD, RVTDan Morehouse, M.D., RVT - Assistant Medical Director is a board certified Vascular Surgeon. In addition, he earned credentials as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT). This specialized training coupled with board certification enables Dr. Dan in the treatment of complex vein disorders. He received his M.D. from the University of Iowa and served his Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Dan and his wife enjoy hiking, biking and hunting with his five children and working on their family farm in Iowa.
Peter Benson, M.D., FAAFP
Peter Benson, M.D., FAAFPPeter Benson, M.D., FAAFP is board certified in both Family Practice and Phlebology and is a Diplomat of the American College of Phlebology. He brings over 25 years of experience to our medical team and our patients. Dr. Benson completed his medical training at Southern Illinois University and his residency in Family Medicine at Texas Tech University Affiliated Hospitals. Before joining VCPA, Dr. Benson was Medical Director and president of the Michigan Vein Institute, P.C. He is actively involved in the American Medical Association, American College of Phlebology and American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery.
He and his wife enjoy visiting and working in northern Minnesota.
Liz Burns, NP
Liz Burns, NPLiz Burns, NP - Vice President Clinical Operations received her Womens' Health Nurse Practitioner certificate from Ball State University in Indiana and her RN degree from Gordon Keller Nursing School in Tampa. Over the past 10 years, she has specialized in lower extremity venous disease. Her dedication to helping patients live healthier lives has enabled her to provide excellence in treating vein disease. As Vice President of Clinical Operations, she works closely with the providers and the entire clinical staff. Additionally, she still serves patients as an experienced and caring Phlebologist.
She enjoys cooking, reading and gardening and spending time with her husband and two sons.
Tanya Black, NP
Tanya Black, NPTanya Black, NP earned a Master in Nurse Practitioner from Minnesota State University and her Nursing degree from South Dakota State University. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing and is a certified Nurse Practitioner by the American National Credentialing Corp. Her stringent training enables her to provide patients with relief from pain and swelling due to venous insufficiency.
Tanya and her husband have a son and enjoy fishing, golfing and sharing time together.
Joanie Larkin, NP
Joanie Larkin, NPJoanie Larkin, NP received her Family Practice Nurse Practitioner Certification and Bachelors in Nursing degree from the University of Kansas. She has 30 years experience as a NP with a subspecialty in acute and chronic vascular wounds. Her experience and dedication to keeping pace with advances in treatment enable her to provide the best in vein health for patients of all ages.
Her hobbies include traveling, reading, home remodeling and walking.

Margaret Hilgemann, NPMargaret Hilgemann, NP graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Masters in Family Nurse Practitioner from UCLA. She earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Viterbo College. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the American College of Phlebology. Her standards for excellence coupled with experience and education helps patients regain their vein health.
She is gratified to be in the specialty where she can directly improve her patient's quality of life. Outside of work she enjoys jogging, biking, travel, reading and spending time with her husband, daughter and son.
Tammy Vittorio, NP
Tammy Vittorio, NPTammy Vittorio, NP brings 34 years of medical experience to the VCPA team and came to us from the Essentia Health System. She has worked extensively with the older population and in long and short term health needs. Tammy earned her Bachelors in Nursing from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth and later, her Masters Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is credentialed as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Tammy and her husband fly their small airplane and ride motorcycles for recreation.
